Bobby Gene Allen
Bobby Gene Allen, 75, of Monticello died Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
He was born on March 5, 1939, in Drew County to the late Thomas Lee and Linnie Marie Calhoun Allen. He retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Company after 38 years of service, worked for the Monticello Fire Department for 20 years and was Assistant Chief when he retired. Bobby was a member of Second Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Leonard Polk Sunday School Class and served on various committees of the church. He was a charter member of the Jose Chapel Hunting Club where he served as President.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dois Willis.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Elna Cater Allen, of Monticello; one son, Robert Fred Allen, of Monticello; one daughter, Lena Ann Allen Kelley and husband, Rodney, of Monticello; one grandson, Christopher Charles Kelley, of Monticello; two brothers, Otis Allen, of Monticello, and Lee Edward Allen, of Crossett; one sister, Mae Sawyer of Dallas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial in Andrews Chapel.
