Bobby Lewis McGriff
Bobby Lewis McGriff, 80, of Monticello passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at the Guesthouse of Monticello.
He was born June 16, 1934, in Lincoln County to Clyde and Beatrice Pierce McGriff. He grew up in Star City and graduated from Star City Schools, served in both the Army and Air Force and retired as a foreman from Burns & Rowe Construction. Before his illness, Bobby was a member of Wilson-Norton Hunting Club and Junior and Jerry Thornberry Fox Pen. He attended Northside Baptist Church in Monticello, was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed watching the Razorbacks play football and his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, Brook and Lynn.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Donetta McGriff; and his parents, Clyde and Beatrice McGriff.
Survivors include his daughter, Misty McGriff Paschall and her husband, Ray, of Monticello; his two granddaughters, Lynn Paschall and Brook Paschall, of Monticello; his brother, Billy Charles McGriff and wife, Marie, of Star City; his brother-in-law, Gurvis Lynn Owen and wife, Mary, of Pine Bluff; his sister-in-law, Wanda Pounds, of Terrell, Texas; and his lifetime friend and hunting buddy, Bully Young, of Rison.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Griffin Funeral Chapel with Bro. Sanders Brooks and Bro. Thomas McGriff officiating. Burial followed in Palmyra Cemetery. Pallbearers were Thomas Mitchell, Michael Woods, Chris Raines, Steve Ashcraft, Scott Ashcraft, Phillip McDaniel and Darrell McDaniel. Arrangements were handled by Griffin Funeral Service in Star City.
