Charles Kenneth Bowden
Charles Kenneth Bowden, 78, of the Prairie Grove community died Thursday, August 21, 2014, at his home.
He was born April 15, 1936, in Drew County to the late Howard Bowden and Mary Frances Howell Bowden.
He worked for the Soil Conservation Service, was a pulpwood subcontractor and a farmer. He was a member of Ladelle Baptist Church and served in the United States Army National Guard.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Downey Bowden; and brother-in-laws, Rev. Jack Ferguson and Willard Clampit.
Survivors include his wife, Cavie Joiner Bowden, of Prairie Grove Community; two daughters, Angie Sowell and husband, Tommy, of Prairie Grove Community and Amy Bowden and husband, Kenny, of Hamburg; one brother, Clifford Bowden, of Goose Hollow; two sisters, Geneva Clampit and Ruth Ferguson, both of Monticello; five grandchildren, Keith Sowell and wife, Sarah, Kelly Myers and husband, Grant, Taylor Wells, Shanie Wells and Bodie Bowden; one great grandson, Peyton Myers; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial following in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Mark Bowden, Robert Bowden, Dennis Ferguson, Junior Cruce, Kirby Veasey and Roland Tipton. Honorary Pallbearers: Norman Hill, Sonny Withers, Sonny Booth, Joe Harrington, Steve Richardson, David Tipton and Pete Daniels.
