Curtis to be featured on New Age Outdoors TV show
Jessica Curtis, a member of the archery team at Monticello Middle School. was chosen as 1 of 12 students across the United States to be featured on the New Age Outdoors TV show in 2009. Curtis was nominated by Sherry Knight, coordinator of the National Archery in the Schools program at MMS. Teachers and coaches could nominate students based on the positive effect archery has made on the student’s life. Examples of these positive effects include such things as the students developing confidence, improving grades or school attendance, or finding a sport that works for them. All 12 students who were selected, out of the nearly 5,000 that were nominated, will receive a gift package including bow, arrows and other archery accessories. On the 13th week, one of the students will be selected by random drawing from the 12 featured. The winner will receive an all expense paid bow hunt with the show host for the fall of 2009. The adventure will be aired on the 13th show in 2010. The New Age Outdoors TV show airs on The Sportsman Channel on Directv. The new season will begin July 1.
