David Lee Woods
David Lee Woods, 62, of Dermott, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the UAMS in Little Rock.
Born March 27, 1947, in the Halley community, he was a son of the late Alberta and Leon Woods.
He was a member of Lightwood Missionary Baptist Church in Halley.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Woods and Clara Walker.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Billups Woods, whom he married October 14, 1985; two sons, David Billups and wife, Wanda, of Charlotte, N.C., and Jesse Woods and wife, Lorraine, of Fredricksburg, Va.; three daughters, Angela Davis and husband, Cotry, of Jacksonville, Regina Jackson and husband, Jimmy, of El Paso, Texas, and Julia Merrill and husband, Dewright, of Monticello; four brothers, Allen Woods of Little Rock, and Mack People, George People and Junior People, all of Kansas City, Kan.; three sisters, Martha Woods of Dermott, Dollie Connoy of St. Louis, Mo., and Johnnie Mae Doshia of Kansas City; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 12 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Dermott with the Rev. A.G. Green officiating. Burial was at Bowie Cemetery in Halley with arrangements by Christian Brothers Funeral Home of Monticello.
Pallbearers were Jerry Cook, Anthony Cook, Patrick Cook, Allen Woods Jr., Jackie Lewis, Cory Woods, Edward Moore and Joe Woods.
Honorary pallbearers were Cotry Davis, Jesse Woods, James Jackson, David Billups, Jimmy Jackson and Allen Woods.
