DCSB approves staff bonuses
Drew Central School Board approved a one-time holiday staff bonus during the board’s regularly scheduled monthly meeting Thursday night.
The board voted for the bonuses as follows:
• $750 for all full-time employees.
• $250 for all part-time employees and full time-bus drivers.
* $125 for all part-time bus drivers.
Business Manager Rena McCone said the bonuses were included in the budget for the current school year.
“I think the District can support the bonuses without any problems,” she said before the board approved the measure.
The board also heard from a group of Future Farmers of America (FFA) delegates who recently attended the national conference in Louisville, Ky. The students were among 3,000 other participants nationwide attending the conference from far away as Alaska.
During the trip, Brittany Leek, Drew Central’s FFA advisor, said the students attended workshops connected to farming. They were also given the opportunity to complete community service and attend a concert during the trip.
“We want to thank the school board for allowing us to make this trip,” Leek said.
In other business, Superintendent Billy Williams recognized the individual school board members for their dedication to service excellence in representing the district.
Dr. Jason Cater was recognized for earning 36 hours of board training, not counting the current school year. He was also recognized for earning the Outstanding Board Member Award from the Arkansas School Board Association.
“We are fortunate to have board members who go above the minimum requirement of board member training hours,” Williams said.
The Drew Central School Board has earned collectively 1,054 hours of board training. The board collectively has 75 years of service.
“We’d like to thank you for all the work you put into your position on the school board and educating our children,” Williams said.
