Derwin Ray Curtis

Derwin Ray Curtis, 54, of Monticello died Friday, June 21, 2013, at his home. 

He was born August 5, 1958, in Drew County.

He was a heavy equipment operator for Prattsfield Farms and also worked for Georgia Pacific for 25 years. He was a Baptist and was preceded in death by his father, Glifford Lester Curtis.

Survivors include his wife, Mable Smith, of Monticello; one son, Clifford Curtis and wife, Mandy, of Tinsman; one daughter, Sherry Barnett and husband, David, of Monticello; his mother, Flora Curtis Dickey, of Monticello; two brothers, Richard Dickey and wife, Samantha and Wesley Curtis and wife, Keely, both of Monticello; one sister, Peggy Chalk, of Monticello; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; nine great nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial following in Lone Sassafras Cemetery. 

Active pallbearers were Daniel Light, Rusty Glennon, Charlie Carmichael, Luke Hines, Monroe Coddington and David Booth. Honorary pallbearer was Jerry Word.
