Ida Bea Courtney

Ida Bea Courtney, 92, died Friday, September 19, 2014, at her home in Halley.

She was born October 23, 1921, in Desha County to the late Virgil Lemmitt and Bea Levingston.

She was educated in the Halley school system and was a homemaker, mother and loving wife. She was a member of Lightwood Missionary Baptist Church in Halley, AR, where she served on the Mother’s Board and sung in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband and three children, Armilla Thomas, Joyce Jiles, and Brenda Courtney.

She is survived by six daughters, Myrtle Williams and Lillia Catron, both of Las Vegas, Nev., Thelma Jones and JoAnn Wright, both of Little Rock, Jennifer (Roosevelt) King, of Monticello, and Angela Courtney; two sons, Authur Courtney, of Halley, and Bobby (JoAnn) Courtney, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2014, at the Antioch Baptist Church in Dermott with burial following in Bowie Cemetery in Halley.
