Joe Gibson Sr.
Joe Gibson Sr., 79, of Winchester, died Friday, April 17, 2009, at Delta Memorial Hospital.
Born July 30, 1929, in Drew County, he was a son of the late Frank and Carrie Johnson Gibson.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Bailey Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as chief usher.
Survivors include his wife, Mary G. Gibson of Winchester; five sons, Joe Gibson Jr. of Winchester, and Jimmy Gibson, Johnny Gibson, Donny Gibson and Terry Gibson, all of Dumas; four daughters, Gloria McNeal of Winchester and Carrie Alexander, Mary Harrell and Dorothy Rogers, all of Dumas; seven brothers, Benny Butler of Pine Bluff, Roosevelt Butler of Monticello, Ira Butler, Theodore Butler, Charlie Butler and Roy Butler, all of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Lee Butler of Las Vegas, Nev.; 25 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 25 at the Dumas Community Center. Burial was at New Bethel Cemetery in Tillar with arrangements by Brown Funeral Home of Dumas.
