LaVerne George Maddox
LaVerne George Maddox, 89, of Monticello, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on November 10, 2009.
She was a longtime resident of Panama City, Florida.
Mrs. Maddox is survived by two daughters, Ann Melder (Mike) of Tallahassee, Florida, and Beth Calhoun (Rick) of Monticello. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Bonnie Byrd; and two brothers, Mr. Buck George and Mr. Ralph George, all of Panama City. She was also blessed with four grandchildren, Jennifer Rabaut (Jimmy), Eric Wright, Elizabeth Melder and Justin Calhoun; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is the widow of William R. Maddox. Her parents were C.A. and Annie Lou Lee George.
While living in Panama City, Mrs. Maddox was a member of Central Baptist Church and, as a child, a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Maddox was a wonderful mother and wife. She made her home a warm, welcoming haven for her family and friends. Her cooking was legendary. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but most especially by Ann and Beth.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 14, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Panama City, Florida. Arrangements were by Forest Lawn Funeral Home of Panama City.
