"Lover's quarrel" leads to man's arrest on multiple charges
During the evening hours Wednesday, Deputy Jeremy Chapman, of Drew County Sheriff's Office, was dispatched to Carter Road after receiving reports of a "white, male subject' walking down the road and yelling into a phone while brandishing a weapon.
After arriving on the scene, Chapman made contact with multiple residents who informed the officer that they had heard gun shots coming from the Herman Lane area, after which they witnessed a truck speeding from the scene.
Chapman went to the residence and made contact with it's occupant, who told him that Jeremy Carter had just left after trying to stab her and firing shots outside the home.
Carter, 42, of 215 Carter Road in Wilmar, was later located and arrested. He has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, second degree domestic battery, residential burglary, terroristic threatening and criminal trespass.
