Lucy Alice Lewis
Lucy Alice Lewis, 97, died September 4, 2014.
She was born on March 28, 1917, in Lacey to Charles and Agnes Lewis. After graduating from Monticello High School, she worked for a year as a waitress before attending the Arkansas School for the Deaf for special training to teach the deaf. She pursued further education while teaching and finally graduated from A&M College in Monticello and went on to teach and interpret in many State Schools for the Deaf, including ones in Florida, Maryland, Indiana, and both schools in California. She spent 25 years teaching, until she retired at the California School for the Deaf in Riverside.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters.
She is survived by seven nieces and nephews and their families.
A Memorial Service was held from 2-4 p.m. on September 4, 2014, in Thousand Oaks, California, at the Thunderbird Oaks Mobile Home Park Club House.
