Martha Pace Patten

Martha Pace Patten, 91, of Star City died Sunday at Lincoln Heights Healthcare.

She was born January 9, 1922, in Athens, Texas, to the late George and Fannie Welborn Pace.

She taught English and French at Star City Schools for over 20 years. She was a member of Glendale Church of Christ, member of Pine Bluff Garden Club, Art League and Bridge Club.

Also preceding her in death were her husband; Vernon W. “Pat” Patten; one sister, Janice Tucker; and two brothers; Welborn and George Pace.

She is survived by one son; Frank W. Patten, of Star City; one sister, Joanna Partain, of Knoxville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Patten, of Hot Springs, Kathryn Patten, of Monticello, Phillip, Mary, Maegan, Corey, Beth, Sean, Seth and Lacey Walker; four great grandchildren; and close friends, Debbie and Gary Glover, of Star City, and Ray Vick, of Star City.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2013, at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Gid Walters officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City.
