Mayoral candidate forum June 5 at Holmes Chapel
The public is invited and encouraged to attend the Concerned Citizens of Monticello Candidates Forum on to be held at 6 p.m. Thursday June 5, at Holmes Chapel Presbyterian Church’s Ethel Hawkins Family Life Center, located at 527 East McCloy in Monticello.
All declared candidates for the city of Monticello’s special mayoral election on June 24 have been invited to take part and inform voters how they intend to address critical quality of life issues that face the city.
It is believed that it is very important that voters have an accurate understanding of the position of each candidate running for office.
The candidate forum will begin with each candidate giving a two-minute opening statement. The majority of the forum will be candidates responding to key questions, which will be asked by the moderator and audience. Questions will be taken from the audience, which the moderator will pre-screen, and pose to the candidates. Each candidate will be allotted one minute for a response and the moderator will have discretion to allow 30 seconds for follow-up or clarification of a point. Finally, the forum will end with a one-minute closing statement from each candidate.
