Moffatt family donates opera CD collection

The Music Listening Lab in the Taylor Library and Technology Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello recently acquired a collection of 31 operatic CDs from the estate of the late Dr. Walter Moffatt of Monticello. The collection was presented by Dr. Moffatt’s family and includes the operas of DeBussy, Handel, Mozart, Rossini, Verdi and Wagner. “This is a significant collection and we’re grateful to Dr. Moffatt’s family for this generous gift,” said Annette Hall, chair of the Division of Music. “These CDs are a valuable resource for the university and for our students.” The Music Listening Lab is available to all library patrons and includes a collection of 1,453 scores, 758 CDs, 1,277 records and 60 videos and DVDs. Dr. Paul Becker (left), professor of music, and Sandra Campbell, director of the Taylor Library and Technology Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, display some of the CDs.
