Monticello City Council addresses alcohol ordinance
A city ordinance regarding the sale of alcohol was the main item of business discussed at Thursday night's regularly scheduled Monticello City Council meeting.
The original ordinance, drafted and adopted several years ago, allows permitted, privately licensed restaurants and clubs to sell alcohol from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m. daily, except Sunday, where the hours of sell are limited to 5-10 p.m.
Police Chief Eddie Deaton made a recommendation to the board to amend the start time when establishments can sell alcohol to noon and move the cut-off time to 10-11 p.m.
After unanimous vote, the alcohol ordinance was tabled until the May meeting of the Monticello City Council. For the complete story, see Wednesday's edition of the Advance.
