Monticello youth football league to hold signups on Saturday
Monticello Youth Football League, formerly the MJFL, has some exciting news for the local youth.
The MYFL has now begun a traveling youth football league. Kids in the 3rd through 6th grades can be a part of the team. The teams will travel to local towns each Saturday and play football at different stadiums. The 3rd-4th grade players and cheerleaders will make up one team and the same for the 5th-6th grade boys and girls.
The players will be broken up into offensive and defensive teams and special teams will also be formed within the team itself.
The Monticello School District has come on board with the league and all teams will be wearing Billie Blue uniforms to include the Billie's logo on the jersey.
The Flag football league will continue as before and games will be played as scheduled. Kids in the 1st and 2nd grades are eligible for the flag football league and teams will be drafted by the board members.
The new web site should be up by the end of the week and sign-ups can be done at that time if you wish to pay online. There will also be two sign-up periods over the next two weeks. The first will be from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Aug. 16, at Hibbet Sports in Monticello. The second sign up period will be held from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Ryburn Automotive. Ryburn will also be hosting UAM Media Days that morning so this is a great way to sign up for Football and also get to know the UAM Athletes and Coaching Staff.
Registration fees are as follows: $75 for 3rd-6th grades, $40 for 1st-2nd grades and $75 dollars for cheerleaders (includes uniform).
