Dobbins finally in court
Charles Henry Dobbins III will appear in court at 1 p.m. Monday, June 19 for a hearing on motions filed by the defendant.
Dobbins is charged with the murder of Hunter Laney on Oct. 29, 2016. Dobbins and Laney were both at The River Restaurant on the night of the incident.
Upon leaving the establishment, an argument broke out and the two were asked to leave the club. They allegedly drove to the near by Valero gas station on U.S. Highway 278 West were Dobbins allegedly shot Laney.
Dobbins is charged with one count of first-degree murder, three counts of terroristic acts and one count of possession of firearms.
In recent weeks, Dobbins has filed motions to obtain different legal counsel stating that his current counsel is “ineffective,” according to court documents obtained from Circuit Clerk Beverly Burks.
The judge for Dobbins' hearing is Sam Pope, who set his original bond at $500,000
