Local woman accepts guilty plea for forgery
Latisha Ann Allen of Monticello recently accepted a guilty plea to 32 counts of forgery in the second degree (a Class C felony) and one count of theft of property in the amount more than $25,000 (a Class B felony).
Allen was the secretary at the Drew County Conservation District when she allegedly forged signatures of board members and endorsed checks. A total of $34,684 was missing when the forgeries were discovered.
These forgeries allegedly took place between July 1, 2016 and Sept. 15, 2016.
Allen will have to pay $52,291.75, including interest, in restitution through the Drew County Sheriff’s Office to the Drew County Conservation District.
