Edith “Faye” (Fleming) Beard
Edith “Faye” (Fleming) Beard, 89, of Monticello went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 23, 2018 in Monticello.
She is survived by her children, Van Beard of Monticello, Pamela Mencer of Lake Village and Monica Blakely of Bryant; her grandchildren, Stephanie Gladden, Leslie Beard, Alex Beard, William Mencer, Josef Mencer, Raven Hefner and Adrianna Denay; her great-grandchildren, Addison Bradshaw, Asher Gladden, Natalie Beard, Madilyn Beard, Cole Hefner and Roan Hefner; her nephew, Gary Clingman; and her nieces, Sonja Williams and Alison Fleming.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie “Shorty” Beard; her sister, Cora Lee Clingman; her brother, Donald Fleming; and her daughter, Leslie Faye Beard.
Faye was born on April 18, 1929 in Monticello to parents Vance Fleming and Edith Fleming. She graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a degree in Education.
She worked as a school teacher at Enon, Drew Central, Monticello and Montrose for more than 40 years. She was an active member of the Pauline Baptist Church.
She enjoyed spending time with family, working on the farm and the education of Arkansas’ youth. Her family and friends will always remember her as a hard-working and devoted person.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Clements officiating. Visitation was Friday, December 28 at the funeral home.
