UAM marks centennial with Wednesday convocation

University of Arkansas System President B. Alan Sugg displays a print given to him to hang in the UA System offices Wednesday morning during a special convocation marking the centennial of the University of Arkansas at Monticello. It was also announced at the event that a group of Sugg's friends had donated $10,000 to UAM in his honor, and Sugg in return said that he would be matching that gift. The donations will go toward creating a $1,000,000 endowment, the interest from which will be used to fund a variety of projects at the school. Donors' names will be listed on the clock tower currently under construction in the middle of the UAM campus. Also shown are, from left: Mike Akin of Monticello, a member of the UA System Board of Trustees; Rob Leonard, MBSF campus pastor; UAM Chancellor Dr. Jack Lassiter, and Carrie Ashcraft, chairperson of the Centennial Celebration Committee.
