Virgil 'Bill' Darrough
Virgil "Bill" Darrough, 79, of Monticello, died Friday, November 20, 2009, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
Born May 14, 1930, in the Pansy community, he was a son of the late Gracie and O.Z. Darrough.
He worked in the logging business and later for the Lincoln County Road Department.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Elijah Thomas, Desmond Louis Jr. and Fredrick Darrough; a granddaughter, P.K. Darrough; and a grandson, Freddie Darrough Jr.
Survivors include seven sons, Cleo Darrough and wife, Cheryl, of Dumas, Leo Darrough and wife, Nettie, of Sweet Home, Billy Ray Darrough and wife, Joygenia, of Detroit, Mich., Donald Ray Darrough and wife, Ruthie, of Milwaukee, Wis., Virgil Darrough of Little Rock, Edward Darrough of Star City and Fred Anderson of Kansas City; three daughters, Marilyn Darrough of Star City and Sheila P. Nelson and Alvern Wells, both of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Louise Bolar of Wilmar and Ethel McLemore of Pine Bluff; a granddaughter and caretaker, Gwendolyn Jones of Monticello; and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 27, at Westside Baptist Church in Star City with the Rev. Victor R. Dolls officiating. Arrangements are by Christian Brothers Funeral Home of Monticello.
