Virginia “Jenny” Kellum Phillips

Virginia “Jenny” Kellum Phillips, 80, of Halley died Tuesday morning, November 5, 2013, at JRMC in Pine Bluff.

She was born December 26, 1932, in Halley, to the late Chester and Mary Kellum.

She was a devoted homemaker, a Baptist and attended Halley Baptist Church.

In addition to her loving husband of 54 years, Bobby Lee Phillips Sr., she was preceded in death by her grandson and granddaughter, Colby and Ashley Phillips; and her daughter-in-law, Jeannie Nolan Phillips.

Survivors include one daughter, Vickie Morara (Paul); of Dumas, and two sons, Bobby “Bo” Phillips Jr. (Darlene), of McGehee, and Gene Phillips (Sonya), of Dermott; her grandchildren, Nikki Morara Jones, Jennifer Morara, Kyle Phillips, Kaley Phillips, Jared Phillip, Kelly Phillips Hardie, Chris Oswell; seven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Juanita Mabray, of Memphis, Tenn., and Opal Hearn, of Pearl, Miss.

She will be remembered for her unselfish love of family and will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at the Halley Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Gregory officiating. Burial followed in Halley Cemetery under the direction of Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service of McGehee. Active pallbearers were: Kyle Phillips, Jared Phillips, Hal Mabray, Chris Oswell, John Hardie and Brian Hearn.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Halley Cemetery Association in care of John Hite at 1035 Hwy 159 South, Dermott, AR  71638.
