William Wayne “Billy” Gorman
Mayor William Wayne “ Billy” Gorman age 75, of Hermitage, died Saturday September 14, 2013, at St. Vincent’s Infirmary in Little Rock.
He was born July 9, 1938, in Hermitage, a son of the late William Mitchell Gorman and Madge Edney Gorman.
He worked for F & S Pre-Stress Concrete in Hampton for 25 years, owned and operated Bill’s Logging and for the last two terms he loved being mayor of the City of Hermitage. He served on many boards as a member of the Hermitage United Methodist Church in Hermitage. He was a member of the Bradley County Medical Center foundation board, a member of the municipal league of Arkansas, a member of the Lions Club, served on the Bradley County Economic Development Corporation board and was a member of the Bradley County Chamber of Commerce.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Monwalah Jarvis Gorman, whom he married July 8, 1960, and passed away September 18, 2005. Also preceding him in death was a brother William Mitchell Gorman and two sisters Sharon Pruitt and Elizabeth Gorman.
Survivors include a son, David Gorman and spouse, Regina, of Monticello; two daughters, Mona Reep and spouse, Marty, Warren, and Angelia Kidwell and spouse, John, of Hermitage; a sister Dorothy Glover and spouse, Reginald, of Monticello; seven grandchildren, Brandon Gorman and spouse, Stacey, Haley Wagnon and spouse, Kyle, Whitney Gorman, Ashley Reep, Trey Kidwell, Emily Kidwell and Joseph Kidwell; two great-grandchildren, Grayson Gorman and Cooper Wagnon; and a special friend Nina Harrod, of Hermitage.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Marty Reep and Rev. John Kidwell officiating. Linda Barrett was organist and Kelly Haigwood sang. Burial followed in Williams Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Ben Poole, Greg Freeman, David Dees, Linwood Dees, Michael Wilkerson and Randy York. Honorary pallbearers were Doyle Gates, R.L. Gates, Reginald Glover, Dr. Kerry Pennington, Barnard Smith, Larry Reppond, Bill Jarvis, Gary Pruitt, Hermitage High School Class of 1957 and members of Hermitage United Methodist Church.
